What is the reason behind my smile?
It is a story rooted in art, heritage and love.
Because every creation I make carries a story that began long before Eclectic Luxuries.
Before there was my work, there was a woman of elegance and culture – my grandmother. She was a cake artist, a true lady of refinement who loved art, antiques and fine porcelain. She graduated from college in California to become a cake artist, and in addition she attended Wilton School, where she was trained and certified by one of the most respected names in the world of cake design. She often told me that I had the talent to follow in her footsteps and become a cake artist and designer myself. She also played the piano beautifully, filling her home with music that matched her grace.
She taught me to bake when I was a child. I was eight when she showed me how to make my first marzipan roses, how to use food colours, and how to create flowers from sugarpaste. Together we baked shortcrust cupcakes, light sponges and delicate meringues. Those afternoons filled with fragrance, art and music shaped the foundation of who I am today.
When she was no longer with us, I made a promise to follow her path and dedicate myself to this craft. Since then, I have practiced every day, tested recipes, refined techniques, read, studied, attended workshops and travelled to Cake International for inspiration.
From her I also inherited a love for music and the piano, for antiques, and for the art of cake decoration. And just as music speaks without words, cake artistry has become my own language, a way to express beauty, harmony and timeless elegance.
Today, every couture cake I design and every buttercream flower I create is a continuation of her legacy. My smile is for her, and for everyone who believes that art and passion can be passed down through generations.
